The symbol for the 1980 Youth Gathering depicted the theme "Rejoice In His Presence." The theological focal point of the Gathering was the three articles of the Apostles Creed, and in the symbol the three persons of the Trinity - Father, Son, and Holy Spirit - are represented by the three circles (the circle being a traditional symbol of eternity). The arcs of the circles also call to mind the rainbow - symbol of God's promise to man. The large cross represents the cross of Christ in the shadow of which we stand forgiven and rejoicing. The angular forms represent the geography from which participants came to the Gathering: the shores, the prairies, the foothills, and the mountains of Colorado where they gathered.
