2009 CHI Quarterly Features Pfotenhauer, Kocherthal
The Summer 2009 issue includes Part One of a biographical essay on Friedrich Johann Pfotenhauer, who served as president of the Missouri Synod for twenty-four years, shepherding the synod through World War I and the transition from German to English. Part One covers his early ministry and the first years of his presidency. The second article in this issue provided a detailed study of the library of the colonial American Lutheran pastor Joshua Kocherthal, providing insights into the roots of his theology and the resources he brought to his ministry.
